Green Chile Extravaganza

Norm Lehne Garden and Orchards will host a “Green Chile Extravaganza” on Saturday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m.  The event will take place at the Lehne Farm, 386 Cleveland Rapids Road, Roseburg.

The instructor for this demonstration and food sampling is Mark Salars, known locally for his New Mexico Cuisine classes.  Mark was born and raised in Southwest New Mexico, and has been involved with Green Chile and its preparation for over 45 years.

This class will include:

  • A short history and explanation of chile peppers
  • Techniques on proper sizing and picking
  • Different roasting methods
  • A cooking demonstration
  • Recipe handout

This class is free and open to the public.  Please bring your own lawn chair.

Mark is presenting this class as a fund raiser for Camp Millennium.  Donations would be appreciated.  Camp Millennium is non-profit organization, proudly offering a weeklong summer camp for children (ages 5 – 16) dealing with cancer.  This local Douglas County event gives these children the opportunity to regain some of their lost childhood, and it is free to all campers.
